PREMIUM RATE TELEPHONE NUMBERS

From Insurance companies to Breakdown Recovery organisations and increasingly Medical Centres plus Hospitals, Premium Rate Telephone numbers are being used to generate extra income for these businesses.

Following an accident or in an emergency, your mobile phone is probably the only method of summoning urgent assistance and staying in communication with rescuers, family and friends.

Only "112" (or "999" in the UK) calls are free on all Mobile Networks.

Landline numbers beginning 01, 02 or 03 plus Mobile numbers beginning 07 will be charged at your normal rate or included within your monthly contract package - so why don't businesses use them?

Mobile phone calls to ALL other numbers, especially 0800 - 0870 - 0871 - 0845, are charged at typically 35p per minute; 090 numbers can cost significantly more making extra income for those businesses from callers who may already in some distress after being involved in or witnessing an accident.

Alternative Line Telephone (Alt) numbers are shown through out this website when known. 0800, 0808 and 0500 numbers may now cost the same as an ordinary 01/02/03 telephone call ... see Mobile Phones

Some Premium Rate Telephone numbers beginning 08 will not work outside the UK. Always contact the business for an alternative 01, 02 or 03 emergency contact number before travelling - especially abroad.
